A local guide

The quiet Cyclade.

Ermoupoli · Ano Syros · Poseidonia Year-round island

Syros is the working capital of the Cyclades, and one of the few islands where locals outnumber visitors year-round. No airport runway built for charter jets, no super-club season, no row of beachfront resorts. There is Ermoupoli, a 19th century neoclassical port town carved into two facing hills, and the rest of the island, mostly empty, mostly walkable, and mostly within fifteen minutes of the villa.
