Two routes.
Via Mykonos
Fly into Mykonos, rent a car, take the short ferry across to Syros. Argus permits inter-island transfers; rentals are hundreds of euros cheaper on Mykonos than on Syros itself. Allow at least three hours between ferry and flight on the way home. The ferries are almost always late by at least thirty minutes.
Via Athens
An overnight near Athens airport, then a 35-minute Sky Express flight onto Syros. Local rentals through Maistrali at the airport and the port. Ferries from Athens are an option but take four hours plus.
