From the owners

Tesseris Filoi is run by our family. Our roots on Syros go back to the '70s, long before the island was on most maps that didn't already include Mykonos. We finished building the house in June 2023 with one rule: it should feel like the kind of home you'd want to come back to, not the kind you visit once.

The family
GROUND FLOOR
Inside

The everyday rooms.

A modern kitchen with a SMEG range, induction hobs, island seating and an adjoining pantry sits at the heart of the house. The sitting room has an indoor dining area for the colder evenings, and a separate cloakroom W/C is on the ground floor.

All six bedrooms are en-suite and air-conditioned with individual controls. Four can be arranged as a double or two twins to fit any group.

THE BEDROOMS
The bedrooms

Six rooms, each with its own door to the garden.

Every bedroom opens through French doors directly onto its own outdoor area and the surrounding gardens. All doors and windows have secure shutters and sliding mosquito nets.

OUTSIDE
Outside

Two acres, arranged on a hill.

Lush gardens are arranged on a hillside over a number of levels, joined by beautifully crafted stone pathways, steps and walls. The infinity pool reaches fourteen metres, with a five-by-five pergola, sun loungers and umbrellas.

A built-in gas BBQ sits under shade overlooking the sea view. A separate seating area is positioned for sunset. Behind the house, close to the front door, the driveway has space for up to four cars.

The basement

For the practical things.

i.

Laundry room

Washer, dryer and iron, away from the living spaces and easy to use through a long stay.

ii.

Shower W/C

A separate shower room and W/C, useful between pool and house.

iii.

Storage

A large storage room for luggage, sports kit and the rest.

The infinity pool
The view begins at the water's edge.
Sustainability

An island in mind.

Solar panels on the roof carry the hot water. Rainwater is harvested through winter and stored in tanks below the building to feed the gardens through summer. Super-fast Starlink wi-fi reaches the pergola, a quiet concession to the world for the guests who still need it.
